Overwhelmed

I've been pretty overwhelmed lately. BustyGirlComics.com is up and running but some people are having trouble getting to it still, which is frustrating. I've caved and decided to add advertising to it, too, which was something I was hoping I wouldn't have to do. Then there's class. And freelance work. I don't really want to get into it. Here are some practice drawings I've done within the past few weeks to keep from going crazy.

Awol

I'm sorry I haven't posted in awhile and I swear I will soon but my plate has been so full lately that I'm kinda going crazy. I set up the gallery in Vermont a week from today if that clarifies things.

In the interest of posting something, I did this sketch last week playing with some potential character designs. They're far from being finished designs, really just something to get a feel for their shapes, but this is all for now.

Squam

 I can't show what I've really been working on but I did some sketches yesterday. I went to a nature center while visiting my aunt and I did some studies. Clearly, some of the animals were more accommodating than others.

nothing too much to say today. another rapunzel sketch of course ((c) Disney, obvs). the "EEEE" one is based off a true story, the thunderstorm was too perfect to not run through giddily. also, alex (boyfriend) with his epic soulpatch. yup.

Class Gallery Showing

I have another big (!) piece for the Body Mod series in the works but you'll have to wait on that. In the meantime, my Adv. Drawing course is working on our "Project of a project" series and we were given the chance to display our works in progress in the Colburn Gallery in Williams Hall. I set my space up as a storyboarding note-taking situation, sketching and writing notes on the wall next to my thumbnails and photocopies of the finished pages. As usual, I got a lot of slack for my work being illustrative (since when is that not "art" anyway?!) and for not being pretentious enough (I'm paraphrasing) but I'm proud of it so nyah nyah.Not a whole lot there to look at, I know, but each one of those watercolored sheets takes between 6 and 10 hours to do so this project isn't exactly something I can crank out in a night.

P.S. HUGE news! There's apparently a large flatbed scanner in the Special Collections area of my college's library that I have complete access to! I think it deserves a visit as soon as possible.

Lazy day

So, today has kinda been more about getting my series going again. For Adv. Painting we have to do something in a large format (no dimensions to speak of, just "large") so I'm looking into working directly on a dress form. We'll see. Here's are some sketches for new paintings. I picked up some new canvases today so I'll have plenty to work with.I visited an old steam-engine ferry this weekend and got to look at the inner workings, which was awesome, so I doodled a crank shaft on there. I also want to do something with a corset ("'A Girdle to set you free!' What does that mean!?" - Mona Lisa Smile) and internal organs. The ear one is to juxtapose the cochlear implant and the arms are an example of prostheses as added convenience. I also have some pieces in the works that combine actual body modifications that are purely aesthetic (read: corset piercings :D) which will eventually lead to steampunk mods that are purely aesthetic.

Finals

So I'm powering through my finals this weekend/week. I've been working on my latest animation for the past couple days and I've switched over to my corset final to give my nose a break from the fumes. Before that, I worked on my figure drawing final so the final piece is with the professor but I figured I'd show the rough sketch before hand (which I think is a little closer to the idea of what I wanted than the eventual piece but the mediums were a lot different so it's hard to tell.) This was done with mechanical pencil and Prismacolor colored pencils and It's around 10x7".

New blog

Yah yah, it's been awhile so I've started this new blog. No worries. I need to get into the habit of scanning my sketches and posting them. I'll do that eventually. (read: there is too much stuff on my scanner at the moment)

anyway, check out this animation ^.^;;

this is a practice version of evolutionary animation for the story I've been working on with my friend Kelly. Eventually, I hope to get this story produced/produce it myself.
